THE BBC has announced plans to axe a raft of Radio 4 programmes as part of a brutal £500million cost-cutting drive. Listeners will say goodbye to several shows including You and Yours and Thinking

BBC Radio 4 is to lose a raft of shows while Radio 5 Live will see its commissioning of new content scaled back as part of the broadcaster’s programme of cuts which has already seen TV shows axed and jobs cut. Radio 4 shows You and Yours, Thinking Allowed, Free Thinking The Artificial Human and Open Country programmes are all to be axed.

The corporation is trying to make £500 million in savings.

The BBC announced it will close its BBC Three, BBC Scotland and Radio 4 Extra broadcast channels.

Listeners will say goodbye to the programmes as the broadcaster makes 'difficult decisions' for 'significant savings'.
